2010 Elections

Wow, California's elections have been a wild ride this year. It appears that Jerry Brown is on his way to the governor's seat. From all I have seen and read, he is the best choice. Apparently, even Meg Whitman agrees! His policy ideas seem to be friendly to those in the middle, and his position of getting voter approval for new taxes makes me happy. The only thing I can't figure out is that since Meg Whitman also believes that Jerry Brown is so great, why did she spend $150 million to defeat him?
Barbara Boxer also seems to be leading in the polls. Again, I agree with this choice. I have always liked Boxer and how she has supported many middle class-friendly minded with regard to politics. And I don't like anything I have read, heard or seen about Carly Fiorina. Her record as HP's CEO was shockingly bad. She cost California 30,000 jobs! And the fact that even Sarah Palin and John McCain removed her from their campaign staff during the 2008 elections does not speak highly of her either. She hasn't proposed anything that might help California so far. And I don't have much faith in any politician who uses the slogan - "take our country back". Too ambiguous, and it just seem to play on emotions. Besides, she started her campaign with an insult about Barbara Boxer's hair. Really, Carly? Did you ever get out of middle school?
For Congress, Darrell Issa is running in my district. I cannot believe that anyone one who makes less than $400,000 per year or does not have a trust fund would actually support this man!
HE ACTUALLY VOTED EVERY TIME THE VOTE CAME UP TO STOP UNEMPLOYMENT BENEFITS! In a district that unemployment is in the double digits?? Seriously? And worse, he voted against benefits for 9/11 first responders, just to protect tax loopholes for companies that outsource jobs to other countries. I cannot support this candidate at all. There are other choices. I would recommend Howard Katz. He is a retired executive and owns a horse ranch in the area. His positions are very family friendly. I have to be honest. I looked for a Republican to discuss in favorable terms in our area, and other than city officials, I couldn't find any. I will keep up the search, however, and if you have a candidate that you believe we should take a closer look at, let me know!
